Book Review ~ Hearing God: Eliminate Myths, Encounter Meaning By Nathan Finochio

About the Book

God is always speaking, perhaps in ways you haven’t considered. Learn how to truly listen.

Imagine how different life would be if God regularly answered your most urgent questions. Now imagine that He has been…and you’ve just been missing His replies.
You may have experienced that moment—whether in worship, in nature, or while reading Scripture—when you’ve sensed God speaking to you. And then, without explanation, the moment is gone, leaving you wanting more but unsure what to do.
For everyone who desires to recognize God’s voice but has trouble hearing it—or even has trouble believing it’s possible to hear—this book is for you.
Through biblical teaching and real-life stories, Hillsong New York teaching pastor, Nathan Finochio, helps you unlearn your wrong assumptions about God so you can experience Him as a Father who speaks to His sons and daughters. You’ll discover the nine myths that hinder our ability to hear God’s voice, the essential role of the Holy Spirit in discerning and overcoming these hindrances, and how to sustain life-giving conversation with God.
We were always meant to live a life of relational intimacy with God. Hearing God reveals how He is constantly communicating with His creation, and provides practical tools to hear His voice with confidence and clarity.

4.5 Stars

In this amazing book, teaching Pastor, Finochio, debunks a couple of myths about faith, prayer, church community and hearing God. Using experiences and Scripture, Finochio lays a clear path for what would otherwise be confusing to many, pointing out instances that are common to every spirit-filled Christian, which may have been ignored or misunderstood at some point or in their present walk. He draws his cardinal points from Infallible Scripture, the unchanging character of God, the nonnegotiable relevance of the community of the body of Christ, and the Hearing of God’s Word as the true source of Faith; between these four, it is IMPOSSIBLE to miss the voice of God and the leading of His Spirit.

At a time when there’s so much noise, even in the Church, this little piece of literature couldn’t be timelier to help make sense of what it means to be still to hear the ever-speaking voice of God.

This book is a classic!

*Though I offer this review to the public, it is my opinion and simply that. Much appreciation to Waterbrook Multnomah for a print copy in exchange for an honest opinion.
