Article ~ The Danger Of Ingratitude & Not Honoring God (The Power & Protection of Thanksgiving & Glorifying God)

“The fool says in his heart, there is no God…” – Psalm 14:1 The Christian’s grateful heart does two things—glorifies God in His majesty and splendor, and thanks Him for His goodness, faithfulness and manifold provision, no matter the circumstance. A person new in faith may think the command to thank God in ALL circumstances to be extreme, or that God is insensitive to people’s pain and is likely narcissistic; but the truth is that beneath every law/command is the foundation of love and all the attributes that come with it; one of those attributes is, love protects (1 Corinthians 13:7). And this flows over, particularly, into the command to glorify and thank God. Am I saying that God will angrily refuse to protect you if you don’t honor Him in these specific ways? No. And that’s not the focus. The essential message here rests on the danger that comes from neglecting to do so. The act of thanksgiving and glorifying God from a genuinely grateful heart protects you from four great evils that most …

Article ~ Peace: Which Do You Choose—God’s Or The World’s?

According to the Livio English Dictionary, peace is a state of quiet and harmony, free of oppressive and unpleasant thoughts and emotions. We, humans, all want peace, but we don’t often realize that there are two kinds of peace—temporary and permanent. The temporary peace is one we gain from our environment—the outside world. It’s the kind we gain when we think we’ve gotten everything that we desire, and believe that everything around us is in place the way that it should be for us. The problem, however, is that this peace only lasts for a short while, leaving us insecure, scared, and unsure of what is to become of us when our environment changes into one that is less stable, desirable or pleasant. The second, the permanent kind, we cannot give ourselves nor can we receive it from our environment and the outside world. It comes only from the Holy Spirit when we allow Him to come into our lives and stay inside us (in our hearts). Unlike the temporary peace that we gain because …

Trusting The Trinity With Your Destiny…Because Jesus Did, Too

TRUST THE TRINITY WITH YOUR DESTINY…BECAUSE JESUS DID, TOO!  I believe that as a baby, Jesus wasn’t born with the knowledge that He was the Son of God. Joseph and Mary, being humble and obedient servants of God, at one point or on various occasions, likely told Jesus about the unique events that surrounded His birth—the visit of Angel Gabriel (Luke 1:38); the Spirit-inspired greeting of Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist, to Mary when Mary visited her (Luke 1:39-45); Joseph’s dreams (Matthew 1:18-25; 2:13-15); the Star that travelled from the east and brought the magi to them in the manger (Matthew 2:1-2; 9-11); the visit of shepherds who were led to them by a choir of angels (Luke 2:8-20); the prophecies of Simeon and Anna (Luke 2:25-38); and finally, the killing of the newborns-to-two-year olds by Herod (Matthew 2:16-18). These were stories probably passed to Him from His earthly parents, but the revelation of Who He was, as God, likely came gradually over time from God Himself. This is denoted in the story …

Article ~ Patience Vs Tolerance (Part 2): The Trick & The Difference

Patience endures all things by faith, and does it with joy, even in the midst of sorrow and intense discomfort. Tolerance is incapable of an inward positive attitude despite its outward display, which can only last for so long. The question every Christian needs to ask is: “Have I being living in tolerance or patience?” If you consider yourself to be generally patient, but are constantly unable to stop yourself from venting your frustrations when better judgment tells you that it is wiser to restrain yourself—which in turn frustrates you even more—then you probably haven’t learned the Spirit’s patience, but have been running on the fuel of human tolerance and are burned out already. Your tolerance eventually gives way to your frustration because in its flawed nature, it is highly dependent upon your moods/emotions. And every mature Christian knows that it is not wise to live a life ruled by emotions. You have to live above them, and make them cooperate with the will of God made known to you. Does that mean we should …

Article ~ Patience Vs Tolerance (Part 1): What Are They Really?

There’s a popular word that has been going around for quite a while. It’s called “tolerance.” It is the word that “decent” society leans on to promote diversity and accommodate differences in people. While there are many good things that tolerance ushers in, I believe that we, the children of God, have been called to live a higher way. This higher way is patience. The true kind born out of God’s unconditional love. Recent events show that there’s a limit to which tolerance can operate and go no further. A person may claim to be generally tolerant, until they encounter a different opinion or way of life that they deem offensive to their belief system or threatens what they perceive to be the right way of life; tolerance then takes a back seat, and it is war. In order words, it doesn’t end well. Patience, on the other hand, doesn’t have to like or fully understand what’s different to display its character. Tolerance has no standard or bar. Each individual sets the margin for their …

Article ~ 100%

The world today is so much driven by outward beauty and performance that it has created a divide between two categories of people: those glorified by their looks and achievements, and those who aren’t. Sadly, a lot of folks in the first group hide behind physical looks and accolades to gain false security, and worse yet, declare themselves heroes in a manner that make the latter group appear inadequate, which ultimately, though subtly, but evidently, hints that the people in the second group are unwanted and unaccepted, as they’re unable to fit in with the “in-crowd.” While this is to be expected of the world, on a sadder note, many Christians fall into this trap designed by the devil to remove focus from Jesus, Who has offered us His perfection in exchange for our sins. Instead, like the world, they let their focus be directed to idols that promise satisfaction that comes from “perfect” physique and “fabulous” lifestyle. The idea that simplicity and simple living is no longer enough have driven many children of God …

God’s Promises & Your Heart Desires Vs Your Dreams

“Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will grant you your heart desires” (Psalm 37:4). “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all other things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33). Careful observation shows that your heart desires are often connected to the talents that are inside of you; that’s because God didn’t just bless you with those talents, but He supplied the heart desires to go along with them. What typically remains to be discovered is the path to take in life, and the direction to follow. Being human, there’s the tendency to pick the obvious sociocultural option that is most popular. For instance, if I love music and I can sing, then God “must” be calling me to be a music artist who will turn superstar someday; if my school’s theater director tells me that I’m a “natural” and excellent in plays, then God “must” be leading me to be a big time actor who will be recognized with accolades across the world someday…and so on. Fortunately for us, …
