Movie Review ~ Church People

Category Christian Genre Church/Gospel/Comedy Rating 3.5 Stars Review Church People is a comedic story that highlights the gimmicks being used by some mega churches or individuals to attract attention in the name of preaching the gospel. While the story is essentially serious, tucked in the right places are the comedic effects and lovable (but cliché) characters. Though the story is pretty much predictable, the theme, though, is unique in the sense that it’s not common in this genre, and execution was near perfect. It was engaging start to finish, and the actors gave just he right amount to delight—never too light, never too heavy. It was interesting to note that there were multiple lessons to be learned, but none of it came off as preachy, but rather,  well-delivered parts of the plot. Church people is a lovely choice if you’re in search of a movie with a serious theme delivered in a lighter mode in a fun and hilarious way. *Though I offer this review to the public, it’s my opinion and simply that. My …

A Journey of Hope

Jim and I becoming pregnant with our baby, James, was one of the best and trying seasons of our lives. It was an experience like other. In the first trimester I suffered from depression, and the consequence was a loss of my sense of creativity; I also couldn’t hear from God. We visited a psychiatrist who was of great help, and after some sessions prescribed a drug for hormonal balance. By my second trimester, I was back to my normal self. My creativity was restored and I could hear God again. I went back to working on post-production of our forthcoming movie, The Farmer and the Belle: Saving Santaland, a funny Christmas movie for the family. I’ve remained stable even after delivery—and this is important—since post-partum depression is quite common. In my third trimester, I suffered from gestational diabetes. Initially, the doctor prescribed insulin, but later developed a regimen that consisted of exercise and high-protein/low-carb diet, so I didn’t have to take insulin, and it worked perfectly well. Becoming a mother has been sublime. I …

Movie Review ~ A Question of Faith By Silver Line Entertainment

Category Religious/Christian Genre Tragedy/Faith/Drama Lifetime Debut (for Easter) April 12, 2020 (8pm, ET/PT) Rating 4 Stars Review A Question of Faith presents three families that meet unexpectedly at a crossroad through an unexpected event that is shocking and sorrowful, but ultimately by divine providence, leads to comfort, hope, forgiveness, revelation and restoration. Issues hinging on priority such as family, work, and others such as racism, health, justice and a side dish of romance, came together to round up the theme of the story nicely, so that each was a touch enough, but not overdone. While bits of the conversation appeared sermonized, that did not ruin the movie’s excellent delivery. In the end, A Question of Faith showcased the reality of a question that every believer must face when tragedy strikes—“Will you continue to trust God?” *Though I offer this review to the public, it is my opinion and simply that. Much appreciation to Epic Inc. for a private link to view the movie in exchange for my honest opinion.  About Silver Lining Entertainment Silver Lining Entertainment …

Article ~ Conversations with God (Part 3): Unpleasant Revelations

When things go wrong and we don’t understand why, especially after we’ve tried everything in our power to fix it, and prayed every prayer we know to pray, and yet the situation remains unchanging or grows worse, we often come to God baffled, and sometimes even, indignant, with questions about why He’s letting things unfold the way that they are without intervening. It’s not wrong to ask why (as long as you do it from a posture of humility and not entitlement), as God Himself invited us to do so, saying, “Call to Me, and I will answer you and, show you great and mighty things that you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3).  Don’t be surprised if God will show you baffling things that you never knew were intertwined with the events that have happened to you. You may ask God why your third marriage has failed and why He did nothing to change the heart of your spouse despite your endless prayers, and God may show you a cycle of bad behavior that started …
