Article ~ Conversations with God (Part 2): Literal Reply

When Jesus was on earth, He often made literal statements and replies to His disciples’ questions, that they didn’t understand. Sometimes it was because He kept understanding from them until they were mature and prepared enough to understand (like when He first predicted His death, Luke 9:43-45), or they simply couldn’t accept His words because they sounded too “wonderful” or overwhelming to be true (like when He predicted His second death, Matthew 17:22-23; and when He was going to raise Lazarus from death, John 11:11-16). The greatest example of this, of course, is their assumption that He’d come to restore the earthly Israel kingdom and overthrow the Roman Empire (Acts 1:6-8), when in fact, the prophecy from God clearly stated that Jesus’ purpose on earth was to “save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21; Luke 2:29-32). Since their minds were fixed toward a particular dream that they wanted Him to fulfill, His words often contradicted their expectations, and so collided with their dreams and created a chaos of confusion, because His words would not …

Article ~ Conversations with God (Part 1): Layered Promises

Study of Scripture shows that God’s promises are often more than they appear to be. God gives a promise. We hear it through the filter of our experiences and what culture interprets the literal words to mean. And despite God being aware of our small-minded interpretation, He often remains silent, choosing to teach us a higher way and understanding on the path of obedience, pacing us as our strength and maturity grows with revelation upon revelation. Through seasons of purification, testing and preparation that are tougher and more painful than you originally anticipated, you realize that you’re in on something bigger than you, and that the future is full of uncertainties; by this time it’s too late to turn back to the old normal, because it is now impossible to unsee, unlearn and unknow what you’ve been taught by God Himself and have received through revelation. You’ve experienced a paradigm shift that can’t be undone, and beyond what you were ever taught in Sunday School, you’ve seen the face of God, and it is brighter …

Article ~ He Will direct Your Path and Pace Your Steps

Society today is built and structured on rules and principles that will not always work in the best interest of God’s calling for your life. Some may even be masked in the form of responsibilities that take away from you, rather than help you grow, and the consequence of choosing to ignore these responsibilities may be as devastating as attending to them. These are traps and snares set up in the system of the world that by human wisdom, you can’t get away from or overcome. It takes God’s favor, covering, and mercy for you to walk in a manner where you will not fall into these traps or waste time and energy attending to what is the opposite of what God has called you to do. It takes God’s help for the Enemy to not lay waste to your Noonday—because it is while the sun shines that you can work, not afterward. For this to happen, you have to be intentional about making choices, as the Spirit leads, that keep you in the will …

Book Review ~ Reforesting Faith: What Trees Teach Us About the Nature of God and His Love for Us By Matthew Sleeth, MD

About the Book What Do Trees Reveal About God, Faith, and the Future of Everything? More Than You Ever Imagined. Join Dr. Matthew Sleeth as he explores the Bible’s trail of trees and reveals the wonders of life, death, and rebirth. You’ll be amazed at how science is just beginning to catch up to the truths described in Scripture thousands of years ago. Once you discover the hidden language of trees, your walk through the woods—and through Scripture—will never be same. Fifteen years ago, Matthew Sleeth was an atheist who believed that science and logic held the answers to everything. But when tragedy struck, he opened the Bible for the first time and was surprised to find that God chose to tell the story of creation, sin, and redemption through a trail of trees. In this groundbreaking walk through Scripture, Dr. Sleeth convincingly makes the case for why trees are essential to every Christian’s understanding of God. There’s a tree on the first page of Genesis and on the last page of Revelation. The Bible …
