Music/Album Review~The Acoustic Session (Vol. 1) by Casting Crowns

The Album             Genre Christian Contemporary/Rock My Rating 5 out of 5 (stars) My Review Fully loaded instrumentation is and always will be great for any album. But here, the acoustics—guitar, piano and soft drumming—carry the day, giving room for the soft, slow and semi-slow songs to blossom. It was as though the plan was to not let the instruments overpower human praise and worship, so that the songs had a simple feel to it as well as a sense of purity. Like I said, the essence was probably not to let instruments get in the way of vocal worship. And that for a change is refreshing. All but two of the songs we’ve heard before. And these two new additions are a fresh and pleasant addition to the session. As always, Mark Hall takes the lead with a clear sounding voice with awesome support from the rest of the group. My Newest Music Love

This side of music has always been there, but for some reason, I’ve recently developed a softer spot for it in my heart. What is it, you’re asking. Christian love songs (and other aspects of life)! It’s common to find Christian songs center around praise and worship of God and that is great. But isn’t it wonderful to occasionally come across a romantic song in a Christian album, or one discussing some other aspects of life, like family, friendship and marriage? After all, God is the great author and source of true love, right? Plus the greatest love story in the world happened over two thousand years ago when Jesus gave up His glory just to save mankind. How cool is that? And the best part of these love songs? God is made center of it all! Truth be told, that’s what I love most about it.
